Remote Vessel Inspection
An advisory service designed to allow us to serve valued clients outside of our physical locale.
Service Description
Our remote vessel inspection offerings are designed to serve clients who are searching for a vessel that is outside our service range and locale. Such a service offering is a purely advisory service which is not designed to replace a survey, but is instead directed to help our clients decide which boats—if any of the ones they are currently looking at—are worth surveying at all. Our remote vessel inspection service is designed to combine and buttress another of our service offerings: i.e. vessel scouting. While vessel scouting constitutes the early stage of the vessel acquisition process, our remote inspection services help our clients vet and investigate boats which have not only been deemed realistic contenders, but which our clients are able to physically view. Remote vessel inspections are an advisory service conducted via Google Meet where—through a constant stream of communication—our clients are directed to take pictures and videos of a vessel of intrigue, which then then deliver to us digitally before a session. Once a session commences, CMS will view the materials and offer an opinion based on what is being seen. The session is conducted in a dialectical manner, and our clients are encouraged to ask questions to learn, as well as clarify observations that they made on-site. Our remote vessel inspections are billed on a per-session basis—however, in the interest of better serving our clients, we offer packages of 3, 6, 10, and 12 inspections. Packages are offered because in our experience, shopping for a boat—from ideation to application—is a process which requires continual refinement and recalibration, wherein one’s abstract ideas must be adjudicated to, and grounded in, real-world data. As experienced vessel shoppers, owners, and restorers ourselves, we understand that shopping for a vessel is a very risky and fraught business. As such, Capital Marine Surveying is here to assist through our various advisory services.
